Love on Mission

Come for a day, stay for a lifetime. Volunteers are the backbone of Camp Echoing Hills.

Amy found out about Echoing Hills through her daughter Rebekah. Rebekah was searching for a summer job and discovered camp through a mutual friend. Rebekah is currently on staff as the nursing assistant.

Amy is a volunteer in the kitchen and was offered a job as a cook for the summer. She turned down the job because she wanted to have time for her hobbies. She volunteers in the camp kitchen on Mondays and Tuesdays. When she was younger, she grew a love for serving through her experience at church when she participated in their servants in training program (SIT). She was chosen for this program when asked to pick up trash and kept going even when the leader stepped away.

Amy has volunteered with Awana, shut-in outreach, and Perry Chapel helping to feed others.

She states, “Faith without works is dead – I believe God means every word he says. If you’re going to walk with God you’re going to have trouble. The enemy is coming for you if he’s not – then you’re not a threat.” Powerful words of wisdom from an experienced servant.

She connected with the camp through her daughter Rebekah, which led her to send her other daughter Elizabeth to Camp Echoing Hills. Amy explains, “Camp treats the campers with love and kindness like the individuals truly matter – because they do.” People often get wrapped up in the superficial aspects of every day, for example, outer appearances. She persists, “Come for a day and it will change your life. You will learn selflessness and what it means to have true joy.”

In addition to helping in the kitchen, Amy has organized a quilt ministry that gives individuals an opportunity to take a piece of camp home with them. 175 quilts have been donated, and she trusts God for more to come in as the summer continues.

Volunteers provide relief for counselors and make camp more fun! Check out Camp Echoing Hills for impactful stories and wonderful opportunities.

In our busy world, the opportunity to serve is never far away. Most of us feel we have little impact on the world around us. There seems to be very little that we can do to shape someone’s life for the better. And yet, changing a life is one of the easier things we can do. There is a need everywhere, and we can personally make a difference. So, amid our busy lives, why should we make time for volunteering? Because YOU can have an impact!

God has given each of us the opportunity to change the lives of others, and at Echoing Hills, we can’t wait to see what you can offer the individuals we serve. If you would like more information on volunteering at Echoing Hills, or at any of our locations in Ohio please contact info@ehvi.org.
