Meet Grant – Generous with Time, Talent, and Treasure
Grant is laid-back, joyful, and optimistic. He is one of the newest full-time team members at Camp Echoing Hills. He is also a part of the Employee Giving Program.
Providing Time and Talent
Growing up in Illinois, Grant moved to Ohio to attend Cedarville University. (LINK: https://www.cedarville.edu/) After graduating from college, Grant worked as a probation officer. After a year, he realized this was not the path for him. Finding himself looking for work, the opportunity to work as a summer camp counselor presented itself.
“I first found out about Camp Echoing Hills through Sarah, the Activities Director,” shares Grant. “Once I got on the camp’s social media accounts, I was hooked. I saw the joy and happiness radiating from campers, and I knew I wanted to play a part in that joy. This was my opportunity to go all in for Christ for the first time in my life.”
At first, serving at camp was scary; however, it didn’t take long before all fear faded away. Grant credits his fellow teammates with building the foundation that led to an incredible summer. Bonding during orientation week, the team relied on one another week after week. Together, they created an unforgettable experience for campers and one another.
“As camp continued throughout the summer, I found myself not wanting to leave. It was the first time in my life I felt like I had found my purpose in life,” he reflects. “I changed from feeling lost to having clear direction. When the opportunity to stay on full-time and year-round presented itself, I jumped at the opportunity.”
Sharing Treasure
When first beginning as a seasonal camp counselor, Grant signed up for the Employee Giving Program (EGP). Designed for employees to support the ministry through a one-time gift or an ongoing payroll deduction, the program provides the opportunity for employees to be a part of donor generosity. After becoming full-time, it was an easy decision for Grant to continue to be a part of the program.
“I read about the program initially and felt moved to donate. We are called to be cheerful givers, and I am happy to do so as a sign of obedience to God. I want the ministry to reach as many people as possible, and by contributing each paycheck, I am doing what I can to make sure that happens.”
Grant encourages other team members to give. “It doesn’t matter the amount; everything adds up to make a BIG impact. Plus, it feels nice to give.” And he’s right. In 2025, team members contributed $16,839. That’s a lot to feel good about!
