Creative, Happy, and Thoroughly Unable to Limit Himself to a List – meet Ray Schmidt.

As Executive Vice President and Chief Program Officer of Echoing Hills, Ray works with Regional Directors to ensure they have everything they need to meet the needs of each individual and family we serve.

Ray brings years of experience from other organizations such as Fairfield County Board of DD, Kiba Technologies, One Write Company, and Cyril-Scott Company. He also invented the Cyrano Communicator – one of the first hand-held communication devices for people who have difficulty speaking.

Ray is married to his college sweetheart, Mary. Together, they have two sons and two daughters, in addition to three beautiful granddaughters and their first grandson on the way! When not working or spending time with his family, you may find Ray playing an instrument such as the piano and bagpipe, baking, or doing woodwork.

Why does Ray choose to serve at Echoing Hills? “Without a doubt, the thing I find most compelling is to serve in a ministry. At Echoing Hills, it feels like home. I believe the love we share with the people we serve may be the closest thing to the love of God that we can experience here on Earth.”
