The Value of Faith

The Value of Faith

Faith is full trust or confidence in a person, thing, or concept. Author Sarah J Hauser writes, “We can let go of burdens like condemnation and worry, perfectionism and insecurity. And we can cling desperately—even through tears—to the assurance that God knows, he cares, and he loves us with an infinite love. We can lay our burdens at the feet of Christ and receive what he offers instead.” At Echoing Hills, we place our faith in the gospel – Jesus, the Son of God, died for our sins and rose again, freeing us from death so we can inherit eternal life.

Confidence, trust, and intimacy are the building blocks of genuine faith. Self-confidence is an awareness of ability and reliance on circumstances. Confidence in a person is the belief that the person will act reasonably. Trust is reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. Intimacy within a relationship means a sense of closeness.

Hebrews 11:1 states, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Echoing Hills believes in a hopeful future for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities through developing trust and intimacy, placing our confidence in Christ.

Spirituality is intertwined within the organization’s core, inspiring staff to provide intentional care for individuals. Chris Setser, Campus Director of EchoingU in Southwest Ohio, says, “Faith is a huge part of our day, including morning prayers together with our students and daily devotions with them after lunch. As a result, It is a foundational part of how we seek to live in front of our students to help them grow in their walk with Jesus!” Regarding his personal experience, he explains, “My faith not only defines who I am, but it shapes who I am becoming. It helps me to be a little more like Jesus every day.” The ministry is shaped by a love for Jesus flowing into a love for the individuals we serve.

The EchoingU program displays faith in action, encouraging students and staff to grow. Chris explains, “I believe that Echoing Hills does a great job supporting growth. I hope they continue to offer opportunities for prayer and spiritual growth ensuring all employees have the opportunity to benefit from them.”

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The EchoingU program is offered in Southwest, Northeast, and Northern Ohio. The program helps students prepare for the future by blending educational instruction, life skills, and community engagement. Being a faith-based organization drives our standard of support at all levels of the ministry, extending to everyone.
