A Day at Camp!

Friendship Drive Group Home recently joined Camp Echoing Hills for dinner and a movie as part of our newest event, A Day at Camp.
The evening was great fun and started with dinner over a campfire. While enjoying hot dogs and corn fritters the campers were entertained with a Halloween story and a camp sing-a-long. After dinner, we unleased our creativity by making wooden wind chimes. This project uses items found in nature to make something pleasing to both the eyes and ears – you can click https://www.facebook.com/campechoinghills/videos/2841625395963707/ to see how you can make one yourself!
Switching from creativity to entertainment, campers then watched How to Train Your Dragon. It was evident this was the right choice when, after the movie, one camper exclaimed, “that was really good!” The end of the movie delivered a perfect time for the ultimate camp experience, s’mores! This sweet and gooey treat was the perfect ending to the evening, allowing our campers to enjoy the warmth the campfire and conversations provided.
Lauren Unger, Camp Director, shared, “during this time many of the folks we serve have not had a chance to get away and have a fun night just for them.” She reflected, “our evening at camp was very fun and relaxed. It was so good to see some of our regular campers and also to meet a few new faces!”
The evening delivered a great mini-camp experience for both individuals and staff. Thank you Friendship Drive Group Home for becoming a part of our community for the night, and allowing us to become a part of yours!
