Autism and Christmas

Christmas is a fun and magical time of year for many people; however, the excitement the holiday brings can sometimes be difficult for individuals with autism and their families. That is not to say they do not enjoy Christmas. Traditions and routines may just look different from your own celebrations.

Jen is a mother to three children, two of which have autism. In her blog titled “Autism and a Christmas Party” https://www.autismappleskoolaid.com/autism-and-a-christmas-party/ she writes about the holidays to those who may have “little to no experience with people with autism.”

Jen does a great job discussing parties, going to stores, and the excitement this time of year brings. She talks about what these things may look like for her family. She also discusses what they are looking for – to be invited, included, respected, and accepted.

And isn’t that what we all want?

We encourage you to read the blog, and explore the other blogs on Jen’s site as well. She shares stories that are real, raw, and heartwarming. Her storytelling has a way of touching those affected by autism, as well those who have no experience with it.

Love. Learn. Worship.
