Enchantment, adventure, and entertainment – Walt Disney World is filled with family fun. Within the park are four smaller parks – Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot. Additionally, Disney Springs offers a variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Individuals and staff from Camp Echoing Hills traveled to Disney in December for a six-day adventure.
Pausing from the busyness of the park, seven individuals and three staff stayed in an Airbnb. An Airbnb provides a unique and personalized experience compared to the uniform structure of a hotel. They spent a day at the park in Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom.
Animal Kingdom shows parkgoers a walk on the wild side with animal-themed attractions and opportunities to explore exotic environments. At Hollywood Studios, attendees can indulge in good food, tour faraway galaxies, and watch as characters bring the magic of storytelling to life.
Magic Kingdom is a world where fantasy reigns and enchantment is fully displayed. This kingdom has rollercoasters, fireworks, and vibrant dancing.
Individuals enjoyed meeting ten different characters with the two most popular being Mickey Mouse and Olaf. They also enjoyed enchanted tales with Belle where individuals were picked to help tell the story. All the individuals got to ride new rollercoasters and Activities Assistant Sarah Thomas explained she enjoyed seeing their reactions. She shares that her favorite part of the trip was staying in the Airbnb and baking a cake for an individual who celebrated a birthday while they were on the trip.
Like camp, out-of-state trips provide individuals with new experiences. Trips like Disney empower individuals and allow them to enjoy opportunities others take for granted. While at Disney, Sarah learned to have a schedule but be willing to be flexible. At Echoing Hills, we strive to give individuals a sense of empowerment by treating them with dignity and respect.
