Faithful: Full of Faith…I think?

Faithful: Full of Faith…I think?

We are blessed to live in a country where we have free speech and freedom of religion. This means you, as a unique individual, are free to place value and believe in whatever you choose. One definition of faith, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is complete trust. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Connected to this assurance is loyalty, a steadfast faithfulness in the face of temptation to abandon, to withstand challenge during difficulties.

Christians place complete trust in Christ as our Lord and Savior. Romans 5:8 describes, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus died and rose again so that those who trust him will have redemption. Ephesians 1:7 states, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” The only thing greater than the shortcomings of mankind is the grace of God.

Grace is wonderful. God is so gracious that he is faithful when we are not. 2 Timothy 2:13 explains, “if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” The Lord loves a pure heart.

Within the Christian faith, there are works done, not to earn salvation, but out of love for the Lord. Reading scripture, praying, listening to worship music, and going to church are some of the steps in pursuing a relationship with Christ. However, what do we do when feelings get in the way?

God is the God of emotion. “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died,” Mary said in John 11:35. These words were so powerful that they moved Jesus to tears as he wept over his friend Lazarus, whom he would soon raise back to life. When circumstances are hard, life is busy, and the waves of emotion feel unbearable, our Heavenly Father kneels by our side.

With confident hope, we can endure any situation that comes our way. Rest in knowing the grace of God and the blood of Jesus covers all who trust in him.
