Holidays Filled With Traditions

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
– Luke 2:11

Christmas is upon us. It is the time of year we celebrate our Savior’s birth with family and friends. A time when we honor our traditions while creating new memories!

We recently asked team members at Echoing Hills to tell us what their favorite Christmas traditions are. Here is what they shared.

Angela – Echoing Hills of Northeast Ohio
“Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love it. This comes in large part from the way I was raised. My parents taught me from day one that Christmas is all about celebrating our Savior’s birth and not Santa Claus. We opened our presents on Christmas Eve every year, and before we opened them, my stepdad would sit in a chair with a Santa hat on and his reading glasses, and he would read to us the birth of Christ from the Bible. Christmas was very spiritual for me growing up, and it still is. I’ll never forget the traditions we had back then, and even though my daughter is grown, I still look forward to Christmas every year.”

Chris – Echoing Hills of Southwest Ohio
“We love to do our family Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve. During this, we have a little “buffet” of all of the snacky foods that we often don’t eat year-round. We eat, watch Christmas movies, and open gifts. We’ve even started a new tradition and do all this while wearing matching Christmas pajamas.”

Eileen – Echoing Hills Corporate
“My favorite holiday tradition: I purchase a birthday cake for Christmas that has Happy Birthday Jesus written on it.  After dinner, we reflect on the true meaning of Christmas, sing happy birthday to Jesus, and then enjoy cake for dessert.”

Harriett – Echoing Hills of Central Ohio
“My favorite holiday tradition is discussing with my children the true meaning of Christmas while tracking Santa.”

Josue – Echoing Hills of Northern Ohio
“Our favorite Christmas tradition will have to be sitting around the Christmas tree with family and having the youngest grandchild (who can read) read the story of the birth of Jesus. We follow it up with singing Happy Birthday to him.”

Judy – Echoing Hills Corporate
“Christmas morning breakfast (traditional breakfast casserole and Donald’s Donuts) and gift-giving with my family.

My entire family gathers at my sister’s house in December for food, a crazy gift exchange, and the ever-popular saran ball game.”

Ray – Echoing Hills Corporate
“Christmas Eve is hands down, my favorite day of the year.  The whole family comes in, we have an evening meal together, then head to church for the Christmas Eve service.  It’s always a beautiful candlelight service, and it’s just a great time to enjoy the music, the food, and our family.”

Teresa – Echoing Hills of Southeast Ohio
“I love going to my parent’s home with all my siblings and grandchildren. We all bring in part of the holiday dinner to share so no one is stressed or overworked.”
