International Men’s Day
Meet Jeff!
Jeff enjoys fishing, drawing, poetry, and making people laugh. He says, “I like making people laugh. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” He has lived at Echoing Hills Community Living for twelve years. Jeff was in a car accident and two weeks prior had said that he did not believe in God. Since then he has learned from his mistakes and to his younger self he would say to take your time driving.
He explains, “If the accident hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t believe in God.” His Dad is a role model in his life and has taught Jeff how to accept his life, stayed with him through his brain injury, and has helped him accept himself for who he is. Jeff encourages men of the younger generation to become better Christians. He ends with a simple question, “If you died right now would you go to heaven or hell?”
Meet Anthony!
Anthony likes football and is working towards achieving his goals. He has lived at Echoing Hills Community Living for two years. When on his way to play in a football game, he was in a car accident. He was pronounced dead on arrival but was revived. While he the hospital he died from pneumonia but was revived once again. He lives on today and would tell his younger self to prepare for everything.
His pastor has been an inspiration in his life by being not just a pastor but a friend. Anthony says, “One time we were talking and he asked if I had any snacks, I said no and then he showed up with honeybuns – my favorite.” To the men of the younger generation, Anthony says to, “work hard, play harder, and don’t combine the two.” He adds, “Get invested in the church.”
Meet David!
David, the Regional Director of Echoing Hills of Southwest Ohio, enjoys new adventures with family, spending as much time as possible with 3 grandkids, and walks with his wife. David enjoys collecting comic books and admits to being a Batman geek. He likes to play tennis, ride a bike, play games, and read.
David and his wife have been married for 34 years. He says, “We have four adult sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and three of the best grandkids ever.”
To his younger self, he would say to have a Christian accountability partner who will have those hard conversations with you in love. Trust God has a wonderful plan for your life and will always provide. His dad and father-in-law have been role models in his life. He explains, “They were great examples of sharing Christ with everyone they met. They also instilled in me a strong love for family, a servant’s heart for others, and a love for my country.
Get connected to a good men’s accountability partner that you can be honest with about struggles and they will be t honest with you in love. Establish a servant’s heart, and ask God to let you see the needs of those around you.
