Loving Jesus and Loving People

Inspiring hope and celebrating life – Camp Echoing Hills is a place where you can be you. Be authentic, silly, and join in the excitement as we prepare for summer fun! Summer is packed with unique activities staff have planned for individuals to make lifelong memories.

Many camp weeks are currently full; however, we encourage joining the waiting list for the weeks you would like to attend. Existing staff will remove people from waiting lists as more summer staff are hired. Spots are available during kids’ and teen weeks and in two of our adult weeks for individuals with mild disabilities. To apply or register, go to our website. Staff will review applications and contact parents regarding availability.

Campers enjoy experiences they might not get elsewhere, such as side-by-side rides, ax throwing, horseback riding, archery, color wars, and so much more! Also, there is an accessible pool and trained staff who know how to safely transfer individuals into the pool – many experience swimming for the first time!

Each week includes events such as Kangaroo Court and a talent show. Chapel services are held every night, led by either staff or volunteers. At the end of each week, our Cross Hill service includes a sermon from our founder, Cordell Brown!
Counselors help with personal care, sleep in the cabins, and are responsible for their group. Volunteers cannot supervise or help with care, but can participate in activities with them. Both counselors and volunteers build relationships throughout each week, and campers often refer to their counselors and volunteers as their best friends. The most important qualification for being a staff member or volunteer at Echoing Hills is that you love Jesus and want to love his people well.

Volunteers can help in three main areas: kitchen/cleaning, activities, and work projects. Activities Assistant Sarah Thomas explains, “There are many ways that people can volunteer, whether it’s setting up and helping lead activities, helping serve meals, doing beautification projects, or being a swim buddy!”

There is no experience necessary to volunteer or work here! You must be 18 years old or older to be a counselor. Counselors attend a week of orientation where we cover First Aid, CPR, how to do personal care, and more. Volunteers who are with campers for more than 48 hours go through training and will need to complete a background check (for those over 18). Volunteers can be any age, but minors must always have a parent/adult with them.

Summer starts with orientation on June 1st, 2025, with the first week starting on the 8th. Counselors can choose to work for a full summer (June 1st-August 1st) or a partial summer (five-eight weeks including orientation). First year counselors are paid $400 a week, and those that work all nine weeks receive a bonus at the end of the summer! Volunteers typically come for a day or a week, but can choose how many days they would like to come. Many of our volunteers come in groups and come for an entire week. We are always open to having people and groups come out to volunteer. There are work projects and other odd jobs that can be done year-round. We also have pastors, bands, and others come in to lead worship or chapel for a night.

Serving the ministry, whether as a staff or volunteer, is a life-changing experience. Sarah says, “Not only do we get to care for these individuals physically, but we get to share the love of Jesus with them and help them to love him more. There is no greater joy than to see them come to know and love Jesus knowing they are made in his image!” Don’t let your nerves or lack of experience deter you from joining us.  Come with a willing heart and let the Lord use you in ways only he can!
