Michaela – Positive, Caring, and Outgoing
Meet Michaela
Michaela has been with Echoing Hills for just over a year. A lifelong friend told her about the opportunity to work as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
“My friend works at Echoing Connections and encouraged me to apply for the position,” shares Michaela. “I instantly fell in love with those we serve and knew this is where I was supposed to be.”
Earlier this year, Michaela received a promotion to Lead DSP. In addition to providing direct care, she now has additional leadership responsibilities. Michaela makes staffing schedules, creates assignment sheets, inventories COVID supplies, orders groceries, and ensures things run smoothly. Ultimately, she wants to ensure those served are happy. Serving individuals with disabilities is personal to Michaela.
“Growing up, I had a cousin with a disability,” she says. “He did not have the same opportunities as others. I saw the stigma attached to having a disability, and I don’t want that for others.”
Michaela enjoys getting people out into the community. Her favorite part of the job is going on outings.
“I love working at Echoing Hills. It feels good to know I am making a difference. These individuals are like family to me. I love to see them smile and experience opportunities to have fun.”
In addition to making a difference, Michaela likes that the company is employee focused. “The company appreciates its employees and shows it.”
When not working, you can find Michaela spending time with her husband and two stepsons. She enjoys hiking, fishing, and taking road trips.
