Open-minded, Kind-hearted, and Friendly – Meet Eugena!

Eugena Torres has worked for Echoing Hills for twenty-one years. Currently, she is the Nursing Supervisor in Northern Ohio. Beginning as a Direct Support Professional in 2000, Eugena later became a Licensed Practical Nurse and then a Registered Nurse. Her next step is to pursue the Director of Nursing position, as the current director is retiring in the summer.

Eugena enjoys joking with individuals, teasing them, and making them laugh. She explains, “They make me want to be a better nurse. I want to care for their well-being.” She shares that she went back to school to improve and add to her skillset as a nurse. Her favorite part of the job is lifting and empowering nurses, supporting them as they care for those we serve.

Her previous work experience as a Direct Support Professional allowed Eugena to develop relationships with individuals, getting to know their personalities and quirks. This made her more comfortable in her role as a Nursing Supervisor.

Eugena chose to obtain her RN recently to grow in knowledge and gain skills to share with other nurses. This license will allow her to approach care from a more knowledgeable perspective. For example, since earning her license, she has learned more about medications and their side effects. Eugena plans to pursue her BSN in the future and is determined to stay focused.

In pursuit of her RN, Eugena put in late nights, long days, clinical hours, lectures, and personal time. She was required to go through an accredited nursing program and finish by passing an exam. Wavier Home Manager Tonja Miller states, “I cried and prayed for her.” as she was with Eugena supporting her through the process.

Fluttering her eyes, Tonja describes Eugena as open, kindhearted, and willing to help anyone. Eugena’s typical workday consists of checking in with individuals and nurses, chart audits, managing incident reports, scheduling appointments, anticipating medical needs, collaborating with doctors and families, and participating in safety meetings.

She shares that her freedom to express her religion at work brings her closer to God, enabling her to be a positive influence. Echoing Hills cares for individuals and staff, treating them with fairness, compassion, and love. Our mission is to revolutionize the lives of those we serve. To Eugena, this means putting the best interests of the individuals first.

Love. Learn. Worship.
