Don’t Bury It. Bring It.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
– Matthew 25:21

Have you ever stopped to think about the gifts God has given you?

Maybe you can sing, cook, garden, build, teach, organize, create, or encourage. Maybe you have a way of making people laugh, listening when someone needs to talk, or simply making others feel welcome.

Whatever your gift may be, don’t bury it. Bring it.

In Matthew 25:14 – 30, Jesus tells the Parable of the Talents. A master entrusted three servants with different amounts according to their abilities. Two took what they had been given and put it to work. The other, afraid of what might happen, buried his talent in the ground.

The lesson still challenges us today.

God hasn’t given all of us the same gifts, abilities, resources, or opportunities. He isn’t asking us to be someone else. He is asking us to be faithful with what He has placed in our hands.

Sometimes, though, we bury our gifts without realizing it.

I’m too busy.
Someone else could do it better.
I don’t have anything special to offer.
What difference could I really make?

But what seems ordinary to you could be extraordinary to someone else.

That’s what we love about volunteering at Echoing Hills. We see people bring what they have and use it to bless others. Someone cooks. Anothe plays music. Someone helps with a project. Others share a hobby. Someone brings laughter. And someone simply sits down, listens, and becomes a friend.

Sometimes your greatest gift isn’t something you can teach or perform. It’s your patience, compassion, encouragement, sense of humor, or willingness to show up.

So, as we move through August, ask yourself:

What has God placed in my hands that I could use to serve someone else?

You don’t have to bring everything. You don’t have to be everything.

Just bring what God gave you.
