Echoing Hills of Southeast Ohio Celebrates 50 Years

On Saturday, September 9, Echoing Hills celebrated its 50th anniversary in Southeast Ohio at Ohio University in Walter Hall.

Employees, friends, individuals with disabilities, donors, and other community members gathered together that evening for a night filled with good music, good food, and inspiration.

Walter Hall, the beautiful, high-ceilinged building at the heart of Ohio University was the home of the event. Arkadiy Gips, an incredible violinist, held the guests mesmerized during the event with his soulful playing. During the event, guests watched videotaped testimonial vignettes about the lives that have been changed by Echoing Hills over the years. Then, President and CEO Buddy Busch spoke, highlighting Echoing Hills 50 years of history, mission statement, and values.

Outside the room, a series of displays highlighting Echoing Hills programs in the Southeast Ohio community and beyond spoke not only to event guests but also to college students who walked by before, during, and after the event. We were blessed when a large group of Ghanaian students spotted the booth that highlighted Echoing Hills Ghana ministry. We were able to speak with them not only about Ghana but also what we do there.

At the end of the evening, Jackie Collins, Echoing Hills board member and Athens native closed the evening by offering a call to action, highlighting three different ways people could choose to get involved with Echoing Hills.

At Echoing Hills, we are always looking for volunteers. All of our programs require the kindness of others to offer the best we can. Whether it’s teaching at our echoingU or echoingCONNECTIONS programs, helping someone get to church on a Sunday morning, or just coming to our Community homes to bake cookies and fellowship with people, volunteers make it all happen.

We are also always looking for people who would like to join our ministry as employees. A large ministry like Echoing Hills has lots of moving parts and pieces. No matter your skill, we probably have a job that you can do. If you’re interested in working for Echoing Hills, visit our employment page for more information.

Finally, we are a ministry that is sustained by the prayerful support of people just like you. If you feel that God is calling you to donate to Echoing Hills, either in one particular region or ministry wide, please visit our donate link to see some giving options.

Our 50th anniversary event in Athens was a beautiful evening, highlighted by the faithfulness of donors and employees. Thank you for celebrating with us.

Love. Learn. Worship.
