EchoingU Southwest Ohio – Coffee with Cops

Coffee with Cops – Officers from the Dayton Police Department’s West Patrol Operations 1 recently visited with students and team members of echoingU of Southwest Ohio. 

Pauletta Wessel, a Habilitation Coordinator at echoingU, invited officers to the echoingU campus as part of their ongoing conversations on emergency preparedness.

“Students were learning about whom to call in case of emergencies and what to do if they are lost in their communities,” states Pauletta.

Officer Ron Strehle and Sergeant Mike Pauley spent the morning talking about what they do and answering questions while enjoying coffee with cops and donuts. Officer Strehle shares they do these visits because “crime prevention is everybody’s business.”

Students of echoingU gained a lot from the conversation as well. When asked their thoughts, individuals shared:

“It made me feel better about asking for help.” –Maricella

“They answered all my questions! I’m glad they protect and help the community” –Ivan

“It was cool having the police officers here.” –Courtney

“I loved having the police officers here because they smile and really care.” –Briana

“I like how the police protect and serve everyone.” –Chauncey

“They were very positive.” –Brittany

“I enjoyed hearing about their jobs and their training.” –Justin

“It was awesome to talk to them and get to know them better. We got to hear about their working life and off-duty life too!” – Theo

Pauletta felt the morning went great as well. “It showcased the work the Dayton Police Department does, and highlighted the work that goes on at echoingU,” she shares.
