Fruit of the Spirit – #1

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are known as the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). The presence, and absence, of these attributes can affect every aspect of our lives personally and professionally.

We all face challenges. We may want to blame these on someone else or certain circumstances; however, what if we were to embrace the Fruit of the Spirit and change the way we act or respond to these encounters. How could things be different? How could this change our relationships with others?

In the article Christian Virtues in the Workplace, Conclusion, Dr. Debra Dean discusses her review of the Fruit of the Spirit Scale (introduced in the 2018 book, Evaluating Employee Performance through Christian Values). She wanted to see if the Fruit of the Spirit could “predict desired workplace outcomes of employee engagement, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and organizational spirituality.”

Her study of 176 employees found that they do. It found that love, kindness, and self-control correlates to employee engagement; joy and gentleness go along with job satisfaction; love corresponds to organizational commitment, and, along with peace, can go along with organizational spirituality.

This year Echoing Hills has committed to focusing on the Fruit of the Spirit. Each month we will emphasize a new fruit, taking these principles and applying them to our day-to-day activities.

“I believe that the Fruit of the Spirit can make a huge change in the way we lead, work together, serve individuals, treat vendors, and interact with families of those we serve,” shares Corporate Chaplain Donnis Meek. “It can also have a positive impact on our personal relationships.”

We encourage you to follow along on our journey and be mindful of the Fruit of the Spirit in your own lives. Let us see what God can do through us when we embrace each fruit.

Love. Learn. Worship.
