Hardworking, Caring, and Active – Meet Angie!

“Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.” Proverbs 27:9

Your friends matter! For Angie, a suggestion from a friend turned into a career. After working as a basket weaver for Longaberger and a housekeeper for Roscoe Care Center, she joined the Echoing Hills team in 1988 and has loved it ever since.

While serving at the ministry, she has grown through many roles. Gaining experience as a Direct Support Professional, transportation coordinator, and housekeeper, Angie enjoys her current role, Activities Assistant. Some of her responsibilities include cooking, taking individuals on outings, and assisting them with transportation to their appointments.

Thirty-seven years of commitment begins with year one! Angie shares, “When I first started, I was scared because it was a different environment from housekeeping in a nursing home; I didn’t know what to expect.” One of the challenges she faced during her first year was learning the standards of privacy and personal care.

Having connections to individuals with disabilities in her personal life, those relationships have flourished because of the professional skills she has developed. Although Angie never pictured herself in her current role, she considers it a blessing.

Get to Angie with these Fun Facts:

  • Her favorite hobby is bowling, and she’s in a league.
  • Her favorite food is baked round steak with mashed potatoes and gravy.
  • The Outlanders is her favorite book series.
  • Angie is an only child, but she loves spending time with her cousins and their children.
  • Taking individuals on outings is a favorite part of her day!

A story of hard work and perseverance, Angie says, “I want to continue working, assist however I can, and impact the lives of the individuals we serve.”
