Featured Faces – Gordon

Meet Gordon! Gordon has lived at Community Living of Central Ohio for 35 years! During those years, he has also participated at Echoing Connections of Central Ohio  and attended Camp Echoing Hills. He is one of the kindest people you will ever meet, always looking for ways to help others!

What Three Words Would Describe You?
Philosophical, Empathetic, and Selfless (always putting others before myself).

Gordon is dressed in a handsome brown sports jacket, light tan shirt and burgundy tie. He is smiling. Gordon has gray hair.

What Are Your Hobbies and Interests?

I have many hobbies. I enjoy reading and like to read books on health, World War II, philosophy, and the ancient Japanese samurai. You may also find me doing art or writing. I have had several of my written pieces published by Echoing Hills.
I enjoy going on cultural activities like Dawes Arboretum, the Franklin Park Conservatory, the Columbus Zoo, COSI, and bookstores.

Where Do You Find Encouragement?

If I ever need encouragement, I go to the staff at Echoing Hills.
What Do You Believe Are Your God-Given Talents?

Writing, painting, and drawing are my talents. I am also very intuitive and can tell other people’s feelings by their tone of voice. I then use my empathy to see how I can help them.

Other talents include: cooking and baking (I make a good cheese soufflé and French bread), knowing several words in different languages (Latin, Danish, and Sanskrit), and learning and retaining information.

How Do You Inspire Others?
Others see I have a high level of health for someone my age. That is inspirational to them. I believe my kindness and actions towards others are inspiring too.

What Is Your Favorite Thing About Echoing Hills?
The friendly staff! They are always here if I ever need to talk.

Featured Faces is a way to get to know some of the individuals that make Echoing Hills so special! As we focus on those we serve and the team members that serve them, we will also focus on our 2022 theme – Encourage, Believe, Inspire.

We invite you to reflect on these three words and think: What can I do to encourage others? How do I believe my God-given talents can change the world? How can I let my words and actions inspire someone today? You may notice you are changing someone’s life, maybe even your own!

If you believe you can encourage and inspire those at Echoing Hills with your time, talents, or resources, please visit our website to find out how you can make a difference today!
