In Praise of Angels – A Story by Gordon

In Praise of Angels
Remembering the Nurses of Pearl Harbor

A few days ago, I watched a television show about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. There was one part of the show that was deeply moving to me. It was so moving it nearly made me cry.

The part of the show that was so moving to me wasn’t about the American fighter pilots. Nor was it about the American machine gunners. Nor was it about the American anti-aircraft gunners. The part of the show that literally moved me to tears was about the Pearl Harbor nurses.

They quietly moved among the wounded. They hugged them, they held their hands, and they talked to them. They did everything they could to comfort these critically injured men.

If I were to draw a picture of love divine, if I were to draw a picture of love in its purest form, it wouldn’t be a picture of a stately angel wearing magnificent golden robes. It would be a picture of a Pearl Harbor nurse. – Gordon, Echoing Hills Central Ohio.
