Kim – Loves to Craft and Shares Creativity with Others

Meet Kim
Kim moved to Community Living of Northeast Ohio in 2008. Since coming to Echoing Hills, she has blessed those she has met with a beautiful smile, engaging conversations, and thoughtful homemade gifts.

“I enjoy being creative,” Kim shares. “I love crafting, and I like to share my gifts with others.”

Kim’s creative mediums include wreath-making, painting, and sewing. The latter is a talent she learned from Becky Rogers, a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Echoing Hills.

“Becky worked with me at one of the homes I lived in. We became instant friends,” says Kim. “She taught me how to sew. She would thread the needle in the machine for me, and then I would take over.”

Kim has made a purple quilt with flowers and butterflies, curtains, aprons, cornhole bags, and clothing protectors for the friends she lives with to use while eating. She has received positive feedback on everything she has made.

“The things Kim makes are incredible,” says Laurie Miller, Director of Echoing Connections of Northeast Ohio. “She has a heart of gold and always wants to make things for others. She will remember someone from her past and immediately starts working on a gift for them.”

When not crafting, you can find Kim spending time with her boyfriend, Ron.

“We met at Camp Echoing Hills earlier this year,” Kim says, smiling. “We hit it off immediately, and he moved to the area to be closer to me. Playing in the Dream League is one thing we like doing together! Ron and I plan on getting married.”

Kim feels like individuals with disabilities can do anything. She encourages others to feel the same.

“We are special people who need some help and support from others, so jump in! We are friendly, warm, and easy to talk to.”
